Over a year since its original release, Problematic Intentions is still racking up accolades—now boasting an impressive 19 film awards—and V-LO The Maestro, the multi-talented force behind the project, couldn’t be more proud. Known off-screen as Vernon Wiggins, the Louisiana-based artist, actor, and executive producer is proving that passion, perseverance, and purpose-driven storytelling can lead to cinematic excellence.
“It feels great, to be honest with you,” V-LO said when reflecting on the continued recognition Problematic Intentions is receiving. “I believed in the entire cast and crew and knew we had it in us to pull something like this off.” The film’s extended success serves as both validation and inspiration for V-LO and his creative team, fueling momentum for even greater projects to come.
At its core, Problematic Intentions is a horror-thriller with heart—a film that uses suspense and tension to deliver a message against bullying, an issue V-LO feels strongly about. “That’s something I don’t like at all,” he explained. Setting the story in Tigerville, Louisiana, a small and atmospheric town, allowed the narrative to unfold in a place that naturally amplified the story’s eerie and isolated tone. The rural setting became a character of its own, enhancing the film’s intensity and emotional depth.
V-LO is no stranger to performing, Problematic Intentions marked his ability to repeat certain roles such portraying a villain and showing his audience he is able to explore similar personas while tackling different narratives at the same time. Playing the chilling and layered character “Devil Face” was a career milestone and a transformative experience. “It’s a type of role that I never played before, but I wanted to be great at it,” he said. “I’m open to having future roles like ‘Devil Face’ in the foreseeable future.”
That commitment to excellence paid off, as both audiences and critics praised his performance for its authenticity and edge.
Lessons Learned and Stories Yet to Tell
As both the star and executive producer, V-LO said the most creatively rewarding part of the process was casting the right team. “I felt like the cast had to really buy into what I was looking to do with this film—and they did,” he explained. That collaboration, coupled with his own growth as a filmmaker, has ignited a deeper confidence in his storytelling ability. “The experience made me realize that I can produce award-winning films for the world to see.”
Beyond horror, V-LO now has his sights set on multiple genres. “I have a lot of ideas and I want the world to see them come to life,” he said. While Problematic Intentions may have opened the door, he’s determined to explore a wider creative spectrum with his upcoming slate of projects.
Music, Film, and the Magic of Merging Worlds
With a foot firmly planted in music, acting, and filmmaking, V-LO sees no need to pick a single lane. In fact, he’s embracing the synergy between his talents. “When I produce a movie, I can act in it, and I can also produce and make music for it,” he said. “I can now touch everything with one single project.”
This multi-hyphenate approach is at the heart of his production company, MG Films & Television, which will be behind his next movie.
A Message That Matters
While V-LO is grateful for the recognition and success, he emphasizes that the message behind the movie remains the priority. “My movie Problematic Intentions is all about delivering a message to the audience about why bullying is not okay,” he said. “I want bullying to continue to stop, and I’m confident that my movie’s message has already touched a lot of people.”
Fans won’t have to wait long for more. V-LO is currently working on a new hip-hop album, more acting roles, and his next film project through MG Films & Television. “There’s a lot more on the way from me,” he said. “So stay tuned.”
As Problematic Intentions continues to rack up accolades, V-LO The Maestro is more focused than ever—on building, performing, and inspiring through every frame, verse, and vision.
