Singer-songwriter Reese Warren is stepping into a new era of musical maturity with her eighth official single, “Treats You Well.” Described as a “raw and authentic exploration of personal betrayal,” the new track transforms a painful real-life experience—involving a close friend and a boyfriend—into a powerful pop song. In this exclusive Q&A, Warren discusses the cathartic process of co-writing the song with Jasmine Peters, how producer Angie Venegas shaped its unique orchestral sound, and the importance of staying true to her authentic voice. Reese shares the hopeful message she wants listeners to take away and hints at her exciting 2026 EP.
Hi Reese – we’re very excited to chat with you about your music and more specifically about your new song “Treats You Well” – let’s jump right in:
RSB: “Treats You Well” is described as a “raw and authentic exploration of personal betrayal.” How challenging was it to take such a painful, real-life experience and translate it into a pop song?
REESE WARREN: The process was cathartic. I was able to sit down with my co-writer and get my feelings out and turn the experience into something positive. The result was real and special. I am very proud of it.
RSB: The press release details a very specific type of betrayal involving a close friend and your boyfriend. When did you realize this experience was going to be the subject of a song?
REESE WARREN: The situation lasted for a long time. My mom finally told me to write a dis song. LOL That is not really my style but I did think that writing a song about my experience was something I wanted to do.
RSB: You co-wrote the single with Jasmine Peters. What was the collaborative process like in capturing the intense emotion of realizing the friendship was a “carefully constructed deception”?
REESE WARREN: Jasmine is an amazing person and songwriter. She and I connected right away. As we started to work, I felt comfortable to share the experience with her and we began to write the lyrics to a demo beat.
RSB: How did the final producer, Angie Venegas, shape the sound of “Treats You Well” to reflect the lyrical themes of betrayal and raw honesty?
REESE WARREN: Angie has known me for a while. She has watched me develop as an artist. Once she heard the demo beat, she capitalized on it and added more of my style to it. Having the orchestral opening creates the vibe of the song and what a listener can expect once the beat drops, and I start singing.

RSB: This is your eighth official single. How does “Treats You Well” stand out thematically or sonically compared to your previous releases, such as “Can’t Deny” or “OMG”?
REESE WARREN: “Treats You Well” is a departure from a younger “teen pop” vibe to more mature subject matter. I am developing as an artist, and this is the first time that I ran my studio sessions and developed the song as I wanted it. I was involved in the process from start to finish. This song reflects who I am as an artist at this time in my life.
RSB: You mentioned wanting your music to “send out positivity and authenticity.” For listeners who have experienced similar betrayal, what is the ultimate message of hope or strength you want them to take from “Treats You Well”?
REESE WARREN: The main message I want to send out is that everything works out. It’s hard to see that when one is in the middle of going through a situation. Most of the time it’s better to keep your peace and stay silent rather than lash out and possibly make things worse.
RSB: You represent the Polynesian community in your work. How important is it for you to bring your heritage and background into your roles and music?
REESE WARREN: I am Filipino and Caucasian. My family immigrated to Hawaii almost 100 years ago. I value all of my heritage. If I am able to highlight my culture in the roles I take or projects I do, I value that.
RSB: You continue to create content for Teenvibes Magazine as part of the Teen Vibes Collective. What kind of content are you most passionate about creating for that audience?
REESE WARREN: I love being a part of Teen Vibes Collective. It gives me the opportunity to put on an “influencer” hat one weekend a month. I make fun content and do an awesome photoshoot at Brandon TV Studios. Melody and her team are kind and really put their hearts into us all having a great time. I meet new people and create lasting memories.
RSB: What is the single most important piece of advice you would give to an aspiring young artist who is trying to find their authentic voice, both in music and in life?
REESE WARREN: STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE. IT’S OKAY IF YOU ARE FIGURING IT OUT. TAKE THE TIME YOU NEED AND DON’T LET OTHERS TELL YOU WHO YOU SHOULD BE AS AN ARTIST.

RSB: Following “Treats You Well,” you have a track coming out with the production duo Mason and Julez Coutinho in December. What can you tell us about that collaboration and how it might differ from your recent single?
REESE WARREN: I am SO excited about this release. We have not settled on a release date yet. We are figuring that out with the holidays coming. Mason and Julez are extremely talented and have their “program” dialed in. The collaboration came about through Marco Di Luca, our mutual event organizer and friend. He heard the boys sing and immediately knew we would sing well together. The song is more of a blend of our two styles. I think of it like a county pop-ish song. It is really good and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.
RSB: Looking ahead to the EP in 2026 and your new series, if you had to choose just one project right now to focus all your energy on, which would it be and why?
REESE WARREN: 100% my music. Though I am blessed to do both. ☺
Thank you!
